After more than a decade in the spotlight, Kendall Jenner is considering stepping away from the runway for good. The 29-year-old supermodel revealed in a recent interview that she plans to shift her focus from modeling to her true passion: home design.
“I swear to God, I’m going to stop everything and just design homes. I’m not kidding,” Jenner said. “I love my space in LA, but I also really love the simple life. I like getting up every morning and throwing on a bathing suit or sweatpants and no makeup and just being free with my day.”
The Kardashians star, who first appeared on reality television at age 11, has spent most of her life in front of cameras. Though her family’s Hulu deal keeps her tethered to reality TV, Jenner admits the format isn’t her “biggest cup of tea.” Instead, she describes herself as a homebody who enjoys moments away from the glare of fame.
“I love to go to the horse show dressed just like everybody else and have my helmet on and my sunglasses and my uniform, and I can compete under a completely different name,” she explained. The anonymity and normalcy, she suggested, offer her a sense of freedom she rarely experiences in the fashion world.
Jenner’s career has been nothing short of meteoric. Since making her onscreen debut in 2007, she has graced countless magazine covers and walked for the world’s biggest luxury houses, earning the title of the world’s highest-paid model. Yet despite her success, she’s been candid about questioning what comes next.
“I think about the future a lot, but I try not to overplan,” she said. “I like to just live.”
For now, Jenner seems more interested in chasing simplicity than catwalks. And if her words are to be believed, the next chapter of her life might unfold not under the fashion world’s bright lights, but in the quiet pursuit of designing homes.
