Ariana Grande says goodbye to her blonde mane

After three years as a blonde, Ariana Grande is returning to her natural hair color. The singer and actress showcased her new brown mane on Instagram – alluding to her role in “Wicked”.

The transformation is complete: Ariana Grande has brown hair again. On October 29, the 32-year-old shared a mirror selfie on Instagram showing her with her new—or rather, old—hair color. “It’s nice to see me, isn’t it?” she wrote, alluding to a line from her character Glinda in “Wicked.”

In the photo, the Grammy winner sports curly brown hair cascading over her shoulders. Her look is understated: a black short-sleeved T-shirt, subtle makeup with black eyeliner – and the new hair color, which stands in stark contrast to her blonde mane of previous years.

Ariana Grande, who has spoken openly about her depression in the past, was blonde for about three years. In October 2022, she lightened her hair for the role of Glinda in the two-part “Wicked” film adaptation. The first part of the musical was released in theaters in November 2024, and the sequel premiered on November 21, 2025. A year after the color change, in October 2023, the singer even celebrated her “Blondieversary” with a throwback photo on Instagram.

In her latest post, Grande tagged her hairdresser Francesco De Chiara, known online as “frankhaircolour”. The London-based hairdresser shared the photo on his Instagram story, commenting, “There she is.” De Chiara also shared a fan post with a before-and-after comparison, writing, “From here to there… a new era has begun.”

In fact, the return to darker tones had already been announced. In April, Grande posted behind-the-scenes photos of her short film “Brighter Days Ahead,” in which she wore chestnut brown tones—a few shades darker than Glinda’s blonde. At the time, her hair was pulled back in a high ponytail.

There were also signs of change at the Golden Globes in January 2025. For the appearance, colorist Rachel Bodt enhanced Grande’s Audrey Hepburn-inspired hairstyle with bold highlights. Bodt told InStyle at the time: “We went for a warm, light brown base color with striking, contoured highlights to create a contrast.”
