Olivia Rodrigo criticizes the Trump government for exploiting her song “All-American B****” in a social media video that urges undocumented immigrants to flee the nation. Notably, the song appears on Rodrigo’s 2023 second studio album, Guts.
Olivia Rodrigo is upset that the Trump administration used her song “All American B****” in one of their Instagram videos. In the video, individuals who are thought to be illegal immigrants are being pursued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and forced to leave the country. “If ICE finds you” is the bolded title of the opening segment of the video. People seem to be departing the country voluntarily and joyfully in the second segment of the video. “If you self-deport” is the title of the second segment of the video.
The Instagram video no longer has Olivia’s song. However, the clip initially featured her song (via Billboard). “LEAVE NOW and self-deport using the CBP Home app” is the caption for the Instagram video. You will suffer the repercussions if you don’t.
Olivia, however, was not amused and wrote angrily, “Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda.” Although her message is no longer available, fans have supported the “Vampire” singer in the comments area.
“I LOVE OLIVIA RODRIGO HAHAHAHA SHE TOOK HER OWN SONG DOWN SO THAT THEY COLDN’T USE IT” was one user’s comment, which was followed by other emojis. “DO NOT USE OLIVIA’S MUSIC FOR YOUR ADVERTISEMENTS,” commented another user.
“America is grateful all the time for our federal law enforcement officers who keep us safe,” the White House and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said on November 7. Instead of minimizing their sacrifice, we advise Ms. Rodrigo to express gratitude for their service (USA Today).
Olivia has previously prohibited the Trump administration from utilizing any of her songs in their political activities. The singer’s song “deja vu” was used by Team Trump to create a joyous TikTok video in November 2024. Later on, the song was taken out of the video.
