It’s the chicken sandwich’s world, and we’re all just living in it. If you’ve felt like chicken sandwiches have been popping up everywhere, you’re not crazy. Yelp revealed that chicken sandwich searches on its site have risen 125% since June 2019.

Popeyes kicked off the craze, leading everyone else to follow suit. KFC has been innovating along the way, introducing variations like the Mike’s Hot Honey sandwich. Now, the famed fried chicken chain is releasing two new chicken sandwiches prominently featuring citrus. But the sandwiches will be a little tough to come by, especially if you live in the U.S.

Unfortunately for American consumers, KFC’s new summer sandwiches will only be available in Japan. Both sandwiches are inspired by Japanese summer and heavily feature Japanese citrus flavors, per Sora News 24.

The Negishio Lemon Chicken Filet Burger features two unique sauces: a negishio sauce with onion, salt, and sesame oil, and a lemon sauce made with fresh lemons from western Japan. The Chicken Nanban Filet Burger is inspired by the popular Japanese dish. Chicken nanban is fried and served in a salty, vinegary nanban sauce with a side of Kewpie mayo-based tartar sauce. KFC’s sandwich has a coating of nanban sauce on the bottom and a heap of lime-infused tartar sauce on top. Both sandwiches also have lettuce, as opposed to the pickles found on KFC’s American sandwiches.

In addition to the sandwiches, KFCs in Japan are also offering Salty Setouchi Lemon powder with fries to give them a little bit of zest. They’ll also be offering an orange lemonade soda. While KFC is thriving in Japan, it’s been struggling on its home turf for a few years, having recently been overthrown by Raising Cane’s, making KFC the fourth most popular domestic chicken chain.
