Kareena Kapoor is bringing the sparkle back!

Kareena Kapoor is bringing the sparkle back! Her one-of-a-kind saree and sleeveless blouse look was designed by fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

On September 6, actor Kareena Kapoor attended the launch of a jewellery store in Birmingham, UK. She wore a sparkly custom Manish Malhotra saree with intricate embellishments. While her statement halter-neck blouse and diamond earrings brought an appropriate measure of extravagance, Kareena chose subdued makeup to complete her sequin-soaked saree look.

At the UK event, Kareena went for a desi vibe in her silver saree that was draped elegantly. A high-neck halter blouse complemented the saree’s beauty and added a modern touch.

Letting the sequins on the saree and the matching sleeveless blouse be the focal point, the actor avoided over-accessorising to let her ethnic outfit shine. Her latest sequin saree look was something of a throwback to the 2000s thanks to its glam, glitter and sparkle.

She chose dangling diamond earrings that complemented the high-neck blouse. Matching diamond bangles added some more drama to Kareena’s glamorous Manish Malhotra look.

As for her makeup, Kareena opted for a minimal bronze beauty look with earthy tones that complemented the silver saree. She sported a light peach lip shade that complemented the bronze tones. The actor wore her hair in loose waves for a romantic look.

Why Chappell Roan Wasn’t Seen at the 2025 MTV VMAs?

Chappell Roan chose to skip the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards and take the night off. She’ll be performing in New York City later this month.

Chappell Roan was nominated this year for Song of the Summer for her single “The Subway.” This is her second nomination in the category. In 2024, she won the award for Best New Artist, but additionally snagged nominations in the MTV Push Performance and Trending Video categories. She also made a huge splash on stage, playing her hit song “Good Luck, Babe!” while dressed in a dramatic ode to Joan of Arc.

In fact, her two other looks from the evening were all about silver, chainmail, and medieval details. She arrived in a sheer maxi dress from Y/Project and a sea-foam green velvet cloak, carrying a literal sword.

When accepting her award, Roan said, “I dedicate this to all the drag artists who inspire me, who inspire me, and I dedicate this to queer and trans people that fuel pop, to the gays who dedicate my songs to someone they love or hate.”

She continued, “And thank you to the people who are fans, who listen to me, who hear me when I share my joy and my fears. Thank you for listening. And for all the queer kids in the Midwest watching right now, I see you, I understand you, because I’m one of you, and don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t be exactly who you wanna be, bitch.”

Why Lorde Didn’t Return to the MTV VMAs in 2025?

On Sunday, Lorde was not at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, choosing to skip the Elmont, New York, ceremony. The Grammy Award-winning singer was nominated in three categories: Best Pop Artist, Song of the Year for “What Was That,” and Best Art Direction for “Man of the Year.” She lost all her categories and kept a low profile that day.

Lorde’s fourth album, Virgin, was released this summer after the singer took a bit of a hiatus from releasing new music. She told Radio 1 in May that she was motivated after working with Charli XCX on “Girl, so confusing” for Brat.

“Brat coming out really gave me a kick,” she shared. “Meeting her in that place of rugged vulnerability and people responding really well to that, I was kind of like, ‘OK cool, this is a good thing to be doing.’”

Lorde added, “I really suffer from this thing of not feeling my own power… and the remix just started me up, and I was like, ‘No no, people are listening, and they care, and your words carry real weight.’”

In “Girl, so confusing,” Lorde monologues about feelings of jealousy mixed with a desire for acceptance in the music industry.

“It forced me to further define what I was doing because Charli had so masterfully defined everything about Brat,” she continued. “And it’s so amazing when a peer throws the gauntlet down like that. We’ve gotta pick it up, and I’ve spoken to a lot of peers who all had the same feeling.”

The artist explained that this new album was supposed to sound very different from 2021’s Solar Power, saying, “It’s about going to the core of who I am in the purest way possible, stripping away anything unnecessary.”

Why Doechii Missed the 2025 MTV VMAs?

On Sunday, Doechii skipped the 2025 MTV VMAs, but she still won from afar. The rapper took home awards for Best Hip-Hop and Best Choreography for her smash hit “Anxiety.” She was also nominated for Song of the Year and Video for Good.

The Grammy‑winning artist announced her Live from the Swamp Tour in early August, set to commence on October 14 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago before wrapping up on November 10 at the WAMU Theater in Seattle. It’s possible she’s preparing for those shows.

In a May interview with ELLE, Doechii discussed pushing boundaries and what motivates her continued growth as an artist.

“I get riled up by people saying you can’t do something or people placing limitations. I have always just wanted to push things a little bit further,” the star said. “I displayed that a lot when I was younger, pushing buttons and trying things. If somebody says, I don’t know, ‘Birds aren’t supposed to be fucking diamond studded,’ I’ll be like, ‘Yes, they can.’”

She continued, “I’ll make a bird with diamond studs. I don’t know why I’m like that. I want to see everything be possible. I want to see my dreams and my realities come to life, and I think that’s always been my motto throughout my art. Anything is possible, and you can create anything.”

Of the popularity of “Anxiety,” Doechii said she was surprised with how it took off, especially on TikTok.

“I always find it fascinating, how digital footprints can just come up out of nowhere,” she explained of the song’s sudden rise. “That’s a record that I made so long ago, and I made that freestyle and completely forgot about it. I wasn’t even thinking about that song. For it to kind of come back up the way that it did and become this massive hit, I did not expect it. I’m extremely grateful. It’s very cool to show how, even the early stages of my talent, I was onto something, and I didn’t know. ”

Why Jonas Brothers Skipped the 2025 MTV VMAs?

On Sunday, the Jonas Brothers did not attend the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards. The trio has been on their massive 20th anniversary tour and held a performance in Los Angeles the night before the big awards ceremony. However, the brothers are quite familiar with the VMAs—they have been nominated 13 times and won in 2019 for Best Pop Video with “Sucker.”

On August 10, Joe, Kevin, and Nick Jonas kicked off their tour at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Their surprise guest for the night was Demi Lovato, who was introduced with clips from the Camp Rock movies before Joe Jonas warmly welcomed her to the stage. They sang a medley of songs from the films, including “This Is Me.” At one point, Joe claimed they haven’t performed that particular song in “almost 10 years.” Lovato replied, “It might have been longer… crazy!”

Fans were particularly excited to see them interacting, as Lovato and Joe previously dated in 2010. Lovato married her husband, Jordan “Jutes” Lutes, in May 2025. Joe went on to marry Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, but the former couple divorced in 2023. It seems as though Lovato is on good terms with all the Jonas brothers. She and Joe even performed a duet of “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” from the sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, for the enthralled audience.

Why SZA Skipped the 2025 MTV VMAs?

SZA didn’t attend the 2025 MTV VMAs, where she was nominated for Best R&B Song for “Drive” and Best Collaboration for “Luther” with Kendrick Lamar. She lost both categories to Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, respectively.

She kept a low profile that day but posted an Instagram after the ceremony about finding peace:

In June, SZA spoke with Chappell Roan for Interview magazine, reflecting on her creative process and the role that curiosity plays in her career. “My curiosity outweighing my fear is the only thing that keeps me going,” she said. “Even the stadium tour—I’ve never been on a fucking stadium tour before. There’s so much fear… But I’m too curious about what it’s going to be like to go up in that harness and too curious about what it’s going to be like to really give my best Tina Turner impression. I just have to follow the thread.”

She also described how spirituality shapes her work and her approach to uncertainty. “I believe that water is my conduit for messaging and energy,” she said. “When I dropped my album, I gave so much to the ocean. I go to the ocean all the time and I laugh and eat cakes and brownies and then give them to her. I’m not even kidding.”

SZA acknowledged that despite her success, she still often feels like an outsider in the industry. “I always feel like the underdog,” she told Roan. “But that could be an internal feeling.” At the same time, she explained that choosing to show up—whether onstage or at events like the VMAs—has become part of how she challenges those doubts. “I used to not show up to something because it was like, ‘I’m never going to win. No one cares that I’m here. Why would I go?’ But now it’s just like, ‘Fuck it. I don’t have anything else to do, and I want to see where this door is going to lead.’”

Tyla Wins the Award for Tiniest Dress at the 2025 MTV VMAs

Tyla delivered another major fashion moment at tonight’s MTV VMAs, wearing a tiny beige Chanel minidress on the red carpet. She accessorized with chains of gold medallions around her neck, wrist, and waist—all by Pandora. She also wore a pair of super-short black shorts to avoid any unfortunate wardrobe malfunctions.

The look appears to be archival, and perhaps a reference to the house’s spring 1993 collection. Model Claudia Schiffer modeled the piece on the runway.

The star’s song “PUSH 2 START” has two nominations this evening: Best Afrobeats Song and Best Choreography.

Tyla won her first VMA last year for Best Afrobeats Song; it was also her first time at the awards show.

In her speech, the South African artist spoke candidly about the awards show’s treatment of the genre. She started by saying, “The global impact that [my song] ‘Water’ has had on the world just proves that African music can be pop music, too.”

She then added: “This is just so special, but also bittersweet because I know there’s a tendency to group all African artists under Afrobeats. It’s a thing, and even though Afrobeats has run things and has opened so many doors for us, African music is so diverse. It’s more than just Afrobeats.”

Some viewed Tyla’s speech as an attack on Afrobeats rather than the VMAs’ organizers. Tyla spoke to British Vogue in February about how that was not her intention in the slightest: “Afrobeats is the reason we are even getting recognized,” she said. “It’s a genre that broke down many doors. I was just feeling a certain way about it because it is the only African category, and it takes away from both Afrobeats and amapiano.”

She also addressed her 2025 plans, saying, “I really feel like I have changed so much since ‘Water’ and my debut album. I have grown into a different version of myself. A little more spicy, a little more bold. I’m excited to just put that into the music.”

She is open to exploring other parts of the entertainment industry too, she hinted: “Music is my first love. Maybe one day I’ll want to dabble in acting, beauty, creative directing, fashion…I really have a love for it all and I know I can do it all.”

Why Gracie Abrams Skipped the VMAs 2025?

The past year has taken Gracie Abrams from sold-out arenas to Glastonbury’s stage—but sadly, not the MTV VMAs red carpet. She was absent from the 2025 ceremony tonight in Elmont, New York, even though her track “I Love You, I’m Sorry” was nominated for Song of the Year. (That award ultimately went to Rosé and Bruno Mars for “APT.”)

After concluding her Secrets of Us Tour in late August, it’s possible Abrams is just taking some time out of the spotlight after being on the road. Her boyfriend, actor Paul Mescal, was at the Toronto Film Festival this weekend for his new film, Hamnet. So they wouldn’t have been able to attend the VMAs together anyway. They’re also quite private about their relationship.

Abrams has been riding a wave of career milestones over the past year. Her second album The Secret of Us debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in June 2024 and spawned her first top-10 single, “That’s So True.”

Speaking about the track’s impact, she told Billboard, “‘That’s So True’ was the first song I’ve had that did what it did. Every time I sat down to try to write something, I felt a little sick. I was thinking, like, ‘How do I do something that will beat it?’”

Her momentum continued into 2025 with sold-out arena dates across North America and Europe, her debut at Glastonbury, and an appearance as musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

Abrams also spoke to Cosmopolitan earlier this year about being in a healthy relationship, saying, “What I love about a healthy relationship is that your life doesn’t radically change. You just fit into each other in a way that feels positively challenging and deeply supportive—it’s like a place to land.”

Why Ethan Slater Didn’t Join Ariana Grande at MTV VMAs?

Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater attended multiple awards shows together at the start of the year during their film Wicked’s awards season run. But this evening at the MTV VMAs, where Grande is nominated for seven awards, Slater let her take the spotlight herself. He was not seen on the red carpet or inside the ceremony. Grande sat next to Lady Gaga instead.

This is a big night for Grande, who is up for Best Pop Artist. Her music video “Brighter Days Ahead” is also nominated for Video of the Year, Best Long Form Video, Best Pop Song, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects.

Slater and Grande have kept a low profile this summer. They were last seen out in New York City in the spring.

Last fall, Grande spoke to Vanity Fair about tabloid coverage of their relationship.

Navigating her personal life in the spotlight “definitely doesn’t get any easier, seeing some of the negativity that was birthed by disreputable tabloids,” she said. “Of course, I went through a lot of life changes during the filming of this movie [Wicked]. A lot of people that were working on it did. We were away for two years. So, of course, I understand why it was a field day for the tabloids to sort of create something that paid their bills.”

She spoke warmly about her partner, saying, “No one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about. There is no one on this earth with a better heart, and that is something that no bullshit tabloid can rewrite in real life.”

Why Lady Gaga Made a Quick Stop at 2025 VMAs?

Lady Gaga is in New York City tonight, performing her Mayhem Ball Tour show as the MTV VMAs take place just outside of Manhattan in Elmont, New York.

Still, Gaga managed to swing both events. She told fans on her Instagram Story that she would perform her Madison Square Garden concert at 9:30 P.M. and was filmed sitting next to Ariana Grande as the MTV VMAs began in Elmont, New York.

The star has the most nominations this evening, with Artist of the Year and Best Album (Mayhem) nods. Gaga and Bruno Mars’s “Die With a Smile” is also up for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Best Pop Song while her song “Abracadabra” is nominated for Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Choreography, and Best Visual Effects.

Gaga spoke to ELLE earlier this year about making Mayhem. “I was actually pretty hard on myself about not walking into the studio with any preconceived ideas that I was going to strangle onto,” she began. “Mayhem is about following your own chaos into whatever cranny of your life that it takes you to. And in that way, it was about following the songs. Writing as many songs as I did for this album was a labor of total love. And then you just have to be very cutthroat by the end.”

She learned a lot about herself in the process as well: “The chaos I thought was long gone is fully intact and ready to greet me whenever I’d like. Part of the message of even the first song on the album is that your demons are with you in the beginning and they are with you in the end, and I don’t mean it in a bleak way. Maybe we can make friends sooner with this reality instead of running all the time.”
